Recently I was hired to photograph a private event at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), one of my favorite museums in NYC. They were hosting a VIP luncheon for their members to thank them for supporting the museum, as well as announcing some changes to the content and layout several floors and installations. What I thought would be a relatively routine event for me turned into a real treat when I was given unrestricted access to photograph the 4th and 6th floors with virtually nobody in the space. (The Museum was closed this day). My goal was to quickly capture some unique angles of the art with my still camera, as well as show some of the members looking at all the amazing pieces of art for the museum. While walking through the space I felt privileged and a bit weird at the same time. My feeling has always been that art and photos of that art don’t really mix well together. I thought at any moment I would walk up to a certain piece and be asked to leave!!! But that wasn’t the case thankfully and I am very grateful for the opportunity and the freedom of being in MoMA, with my camera, to attempt at making art of my own, re-purposing what’s already there.
My sincere thanks to the Museum for allowing me to post these images here in my blog.
