When I set out to be a full-time professional photographer my goal was to be able to support myself taking photos, pursuing my passion. The past 9 years of my life I have worked very hard at it everyday; experiencing the highs and lows of being a self-employed artist living in one of the biggest cities in the world, New York. Recently something happened that brought all of this full circle for me. I was given a 5 page spread in a wonderful publication called M Music & Musicians. It all came about when the editor of the magazine came across my photos of Robin Thicke from the recent Jingle Ball tour I had photographed. He emailed me and said he was really interested in using a few of them in a feature he was putting together on Robin. To my delight, he also said he was interested in featuring ME in the magazine, and that I’d be the first “concert” spread the magazine had ever done.
After a bunch of going back and forth, the magazine requested the images that you see below and interviewed me over the phone to compose the captions. Once that was complete about 3 months went by until I checked my mail and there it was; the magazine featuring my work. Looking through it the first time I was in a bit of shock and didn’t really react to it. But later that night, as I was thinking to myself about it, I started to cry. Tears of joy. Good tears. It became obvious to me that every now and then, with a lot of hard work and a lot of dedication, your dreams CAN come true.
I’m grateful the magazine featured some of my favorite musicians! Steven Tyler, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Billy Joel, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Bruce Springsteen, Ke$ha, Macklemore, P!nk, and Taylor Swift!
