Tip Tuesday: Let There Be Light

If you find yourself in a setting where there is strong light behind your subject, use it to your advantage: Make a silhouette!

In this (slightly extreme) example, look at how well P!nk “pops” through all that light! Granted, she’s being lit from the front as well so that you cna see her face, but the idea is to use a much STRONGER light source behind her so that she really stands out. If you look closely in this example, you can see that the light is also silhouetting the fans in the audience, too! Try it!

Bonus Tip: You may have to underexpose the shot so that it isn’t blown out by the strong light. This is where shooting manual exposure definitely comes in handy!
